I love this advertisement campaign by the Irish Tourist Board. If I lived in London, I think I would follow the advert's advice—get out of London and relax in Ireland!
As an Englishman, I have been to Ireland many times, traveling in both the Republic and Northern Ireland. I have always been made very welcome, contrary to what some people expect. Have I experienced good-natured teasing and banter? Yes! Have I experienced anti-British rudeness, offhandedness or poor service? Never! I love Ireland!
Fly to Dublin, then take the DART to Howth. I know a lovely little B&B there, and a pub that serves a perfect pint of Guinness, while you relax and look out to sea over the harbor.
